karakataafrobeatsociety@gmail.comToyin started Kara-Kata Afrobeat Band in 2012 with the goal of creating a space of community. He is passionate about serving and uplifting others, honouring and sharing his culture through food and music, and he is a farmer at heart. Originally from Nigeria, Toyin moved to Canada during his professional soccer career over 20 years ago. He played on soccer teams around the globe, including in British Columbia. After his soccer career, Toyin went into farming in Canada, working in dairy farming specifically, for over 10 years where he gained a wealth of knowledge that he is eager to share. He has filmed educational videos where he shares information on farming practices. These videos have gotten a lot of traction in Nigeria and the government has contacted him on several occasions to partner on projects. Toyin has a challenging history, living through much unrest and poverty in Nigeria as a youth. He has always been an innovative and hard working person who serves his community and those in need. Over the years, he has helped many individuals with funds to go to school, for basic needs, and he has built a school in Nigeria among many other selfless acts. He assists his mother in Nigeria to support the widows of the community. In 2017, Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society Canada, become a provincially registered non-profit society.
