50 Acres Plus Project – Ekiti State, Nigeria

Rooted in Heritage, Growing for the Future

The 50 Acres Plus Project is Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society of Canada’s flagship agricultural initiative in Ekiti State, Nigeria — a powerful extension of our food sovereignty and cultural revitalization mission. While the project’s name honours its origins, the land under cultivation has now grown to over 500 acres of untouched, fully organic farmland.

This project is more than a farm — it’s a living legacy, a seed sanctuary, and a symbol of Black-led land stewardship and intercontinental solidarity.

A Vision Realized

The 50 Acres Plus Project was established to reconnect our communities with ancestral lands, create sustainable agricultural livelihoods, and foster cross-cultural learning between Africa and the diaspora.

The project supports:

  • The cultivation of culturally significant African crops, grown using traditional and chemical-free methods
  • Training and employment for local youth, women, and aspiring farmers
  • Educational and cultural exchange with our Canadian farming and mentorship programs

Natural Land, Heritage Seeds, and Regenerative Farming

This land is sacred. It is untouched, natural, and completely organic — free from industrial pollutants and rich with agricultural potential. It also serves as a living seed bank, preserving endangered African heritage seeds to ensure food and cultural security for future generations.

We are committed to:

  • Sustainable, regenerative farming that restores and protects the land
  • Preservation of traditional seed varieties and cultivation knowledge
  • Honouring ancestral agricultural wisdom in every aspect of our work

As founder Toyin Kayo-Ajayi often says:

“When we save our seeds, we save our future.”

Community Impact

At its heart, the 50 Acres Plus Project is about people. It uplifts communities through:

  • Local food production and security
  • Employment and skills development
  • Land-based cultural renewal through storytelling, music, and farming traditions

This is a place where the past, present, and future come together — a space of healing, growth, and empowerment.

ED for ALL Project

Empowering Future Generations Through Education

Gospel Proclaimers Group of Schools

A Division of the Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society of Canada Africa Educational Project

The ED for ALL Project is Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society of Canada’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to education in Africa. At the heart of this initiative is the Gospel Proclaimers Group of Schools, located in Ekiti State, Nigeria — the home state of our founder, Toyin Kayo-Ajayi.

Founded in 2006 by Mr. Kayo-Ajayi in close partnership with the local community, the school began with just 10 students across nursery, kindergarten, and primary levels. In 2015, the secondary school division was launched with 8 students — a significant milestone in the expansion of educational access in the region.

Today, the impact is clear:

  • 120+ students enrolled in the lower school
  • 80+ students in the secondary school
  • 40 classrooms completed and fully operational
  • Teachers are locally hired, building capacity and opportunity within the community
  • The school is led by Pastor Kolade Kayo-Ajayi, continuing the vision of excellence, equity, and service

Learning Beyond the Classroom

As part of their curriculum, students regularly visit the 50 Acres Plus Project, where they:

  • Learn about sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship
  • Participate in tree planting initiatives to help restore the land
  • Gain hands-on experience with food systems that connect to culture and community resilience

These experiences enrich their education and instill values of care for the earth and pride in cultural heritage.

How You Can Help

To continue providing quality, accessible education to underserved children and youth, we are currently seeking support for the following priorities:

  • Structural repairs and maintenance of existing classrooms
  • Expansion to accommodate more students and program offerings
  • Upgrades to our IT department, including computers and internet access
  • School buses to safely transport students from surrounding areas

Your donation will directly impact students and educators by improving learning
environments, increasing access, and building a stronger future for the community.
